Style Weekly called Paolo Rosso's The Portico, "the hottest thing in Goochland." So in 19° weather we ventured to the 12506 River Rd location for some hearty winter food to celebrate my birthday!
Not only was the service impeccable, but the food phenomenal. My parents were impressed that they need not close out their tab at the bar before dinner, since the bartender became our server--seamlessly I may add!
The risotto (above) was rich and creamy, the vegetables were cooked in a nice hearty broth and tender with some bite still to them and the lamb was oh so tasty. Plus, I had just enough to take some home for a late night snack!
Let me pause for a minute to talk about dessert-- the CHOCOLATE BUDINO, everyone should try it. Forget all of the other desserts. They will try and sell you on Gelati Celesti, which yes is amazing and everyone should try if you've never had it, but this dessert is one of the best I have had in my life. It is like flan, and crime brûlée had a baby and fell in a vat of chocolate. It was divine.
A+'s across the board. One of my personal favorites!
