I can remember eating here last year on one of my first dates with my boyfriend and both of us got eaten alive by mosquitos. That probably explained why we were the only ones sitting on the deck near the water that day--we should have taken the hint when the wait staff tried to seat us indoors. Well we had a wonderful time and recently went back but we strategically decided to go before mosquito season.
The Boathouse at Sunday Park, while it is a chain, offers delicious seafood options, and a change from the normal pace of Richmond restaurants. Tucked away in Brandermill right off Rt. 288, it's just a short drive from Richmond and the perfect date spot! We always enjoy a nice evening walk around the water after our meal and admire the stars that usually disappear among the city lights.
Our server was wonderful, she made some nice recommendations for food and was attentive to our needs. They had a nice island band playing in the corner and we got there just in time to enjoy dinner as the sunset began (hence the photo.) I cannot wait to go back again this summer.
Are you staying in Richmond this memorial day and hoping to enjoy the sunshine and some outdoor dining? Check out the Boathouse at Sunday Park and try the Calamari or their Chicken Chesapeake this weekend! Post some photos of your food and be sure to tag @CuisinebyKB.
