This Carytown spot opened originally in 1929, and has been operating in it's current location since 1934, holding the title as Richmond's oldest restaurant. Pictured is their portabello sandwich, which was just okay. Despite a virtually empty restaurant, our food still took over 30 minutes to prepare: for a couple burgers. Likewise the portabello was drenched in oil that made the sandwich almost soggy, and very messy. Overall, the food has potential--the butternut squash side was delicious, but NY Deli leaves much to be desired in pretty much every other menu item.
They do serve as a great late night dinner destination for after a movie at The Byrd and have a wonderful trivia night on Tuesdays @ 8:00PM! C- overall.
