This week's restaurant spotlight goes out to Citizen Burger in Carytown, RVA. For a full review of the experience, check out their .ull review in the restaurant spotlight. For now, I'll touch on the food. Pictured above is their Steakhouse Burger [Timbercreek beef, Tillamook cheddar, Nueske's bacon, bbq sauce, onion straws, compound butter, on house brioche, served with Sweet Potato fries.] Photo cred goes out to my wonderful boyfriend Allan, as I was sitting in the shade, so my 'Southern' Burger will be on the site later.
Citizen Burger Bar received a lot of hype prior to arriving to the River City, so I was excited to check it out. The meal pictured here will cost you $16.00, since most of their ingredients are locally sourced, and they up-charge for the sweet potato fries(not always something I agree with, but they were tasty!) They have a decent craft beer list and some tasty apps to try too. They do have vegan, and gluten free options for those needing alternatives to the wheat and meat lovers like me.
The service is wonderful. Our waitress was very patient as we sampled several beers before selecting the right one, and was extremely helpful in providing suggestions on the menu. I would definitely recommend ordering your burger 'Pink' though, as it truly enhances the flavor of the meat. While I can't say it's my favorite place to grab a burger in town.
Overall, the entire experience was dynamite!
Grab some friends or a date for dinner and drinks, see a movie at The Byrd and finish with dessert next door at Bev's.
