L'Opossum in Richmond's Oregon Hill neighborhood features some of, if not, THE BEST food I've even eaten in a long time. The ambience, service and menu selection combined for an experience I won't soon forget. L'Opossum has received numerous accolades including being named one of THE SOUTH'S BEST RESTAURANTS in 2015 by Souther Living Magazine.
Have a birthday, anniversary or special night on the town coming up? I'd highly recommend a night at L'Oppossum--but make your reservations soon! This restaurant is quaint and seats I'm guessing only about 25 folks at a time.
Pictured here is their Olde Thyme Chicken Fricassee featuring a Port & Chardonnay Drenched Breast & Thigh Topping A Badassery of Lemon Spaetzle, Escarole, & Lardons in a Comforting Mustard Jus.
Honestly this chicken is second only to one other chicken I've had in my entire life. The skin was perfectly crispy and the sauce was savory and tangy pairing deliciously with the escalore, lardons and spaetzle.
Are you still on vacation mode? Head on over to The Fancy Biscuit on E. Cary Street for their Mimosa Flight(yes I said MIMOSA FLIGHT!) and toast to starting your resolutions next week! This flight is $10 of deliciousness to compliment their grit tots and savory biscuit sandwiches to round out the perfect meal on a chilly December morning! (Left to Right)

NEED I SAY MORE?! (Oh- On your way out, grab some Shyndigz2Go)
Need a last minute Christmas Eve dinner location? My family and I went to @dailykitchenbar a couple days ago for a family meal and it was EXCELLENT! Featured here is their, Blackened Mahi with roasted sweet potatoes, asparagus, pineapple relish, and spicy mango puree. It's both gluten free and dairy free--as is most of their menu, but still equally as delicious!
Have a dietary allergy and sensitivity that makes eating out bland? Check out The Daily for delicious food and drinks for all! (I highly recommend their mocktails too)
Moroccan Grilled Lamb Rack with caramelized onion couscous, cherry chutney, creamy horseradish sauce and sauteed green beans from Millie's. This Richmond favorite has been serving up delicious food since 1989 and their Thai Spicy Shrimp has been on the menu since the doors opened! On weekends, folks can be seen lining up outside with bloody Mary's in hand, waiting to be seated, but for holidays, they do take reservations!
Our service was great, noise level wasn't too bad and drinks were good! The curry fried oysters packed a bit of heat but were delicious! We enjoyed an appetizer of clams and mussels--both tasty and excellent portion size!
The lamb was cooked perfectly with a delicious chutney to balance out the horseradish sauce! Sadly none of the desserts caught our attention though. This just means we'll have to return for brunch/dessert.
The boathouse's signature dessert, pizookie. A soft-baked chocolate-chip cookie, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup. While it's tasty, I it could use some more cookie dough. Pro-tip, make your own at home(recipe to follow)! Check out The Boathouse for your next date night or family I night out.
5th & Taylor in Nashville. This trendy spot serves up some of the most delicious food I've tasted in my life! From the truffle-honey duck wings, to the pork 4-ways, and the fried chicken with sweet potato and a honey-chili sauce pictured here, everything was phenomenal! I met up with a close friend from college here and we spent hours catching up. Our poor server kept checking up on us throughout the evening, but we couldn't have asked for anything more! There's nothing better than good food, delicious drinks and close friends! Their ambiance is very trendy and they have plenty of outdoor seating for those temperate winter nights! Check them out on your next trip to Nashville!
The Fancy Biscuit was such a treat this morning! This Cary Street location is only open for breakfast and lunch Wednesday-Sunday but man is it worth the trip! My friend and I both enjoyed a mimosa flight, their grit tots(which were to die for), and our own biscuit dish. I opted for my cashier's favorite, the 'Got Your Goat' featured here. It's a buttermilk biscuit with fried chicken, local pepper jelly, goat cheese, and balsamic reduction.' While it was a struggle to eat it all, I took one for the team and did it!
Take a long lunch break and treat yo self or stand in line on a Saturday morning! (Pro-tip: their dining room is in Shyndigz2Go, so grab a slice on your way out!)
[Kale Gemelli Pasta, butternut squash, kale, Maple brown butter, Ricotta Salata cheese, pecans. ]
Heritage in the heart of the fan never ceases to delight the taste-buds. While I had been several times for brunch, a recent date night was my first visit for dinner and it was definitely one of the best meals I have had in Richmond! We didn't have a reservation but there were 2 open tables and few spots at the bar to choose from when we arrived and we were seated immediately. After dining on a cheese plate to start and our signature cocktails, we asked our server for recommendations. While their menu is small, featuring only 7 options for dinner-I still struggled to choose just one! Likewise they were extremely accommodating for all of my boyfriend's dietary restrictions. I was very sad when I was too stuffed to order dessert! I'll just have to go back.
If you haven't been to Heritage you are surely missing out!
Now THIS is a charcuterie board! Decent size portions of each item so everyone at the table gets to taste and plenty of bread to snack with!
Are you looking for a change of pace for girls night, a cozy evening with good friends and delicious food, or even a romantic evening with that special someone? Check out The Barrel Thief on Patterson Ave in the near west end.
Did I mention there is more wine to choose than food? Each night the chef features a deviled eggs special on the menu(ours were Thanksgiving themed when I went--with a touch of sage and pecan.) Their menu also showcases a selection of sandwiches and appetizers sure to please every taste-bud!
This cold weather makes me crave comfort food, and my favorite type of comfort food is breakfast food. Check out this special from last weekend at Lunch or Supper. [Waffles, fried chicken, eggs, cheese & bacon with a side of cheese grits.]
Pro-tip: they don't take reservations, so be okay with sitting at the community table or go with a small group! Plus their mimosa carafe is a great deal!
